You can safely check the obvious things: look for visible cracks at weld joints, feel for play in the arm bracket with the operator in manual mode, and shoot us photos of anything suspicious. What you shouldn’t do is weld on a gate operator bracket yourself. A gate spring, an operator arm under tension, or a frame section carrying hundreds of pounds can shift during welding and crush a hand or worse. The welds on a Viking gate bracket also need to be made with the gate unloaded and the operator disconnected, otherwise the repair fails in weeks instead of years.
